When it comes to soccer, there’s a rich tradition of excellence at Portage Central High School. Our teams have won numerous conference, district, regional, and state titles, and have positively represented the school in the process. Some Mustangs have won all-state honors; some have continued to play at the college level and even beyond. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we now have a field that’s as impressive as the history of our program. To dedicate Mustang Field, we looked beyond our present. Each member of the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams was accompanied by a youth player as Sam Breithaupt, a member of the 2009 Girls’ State Championship Team, sang the National Anthem. Portage Central Hall of Famer and former coach Pat Norman joined our current team captains and two local youth players for a ceremonial kickoff representing the past, present, and future of PC Soccer. This was our fourth celebration as we approach our Centennial year, and our fourth opportunity to express our gratitude to a community that wants the best for our students. This beautiful field is evidence of that. Again and again, thank you.
